We believe family isn’t always defined by blood — it’s defined by love, commitment, and who shows up when life gets hard.

Chosen families are everywhere.
Grandparents raising kids.
Godparents stepping in.
Friends becoming caregivers.
People choosing responsibility when no one else will.

And too often… they’re doing it alone.

We’re here to change that.

How It Started

The Chosen Family Foundation wasn’t created from an idea.
It was created from real life.

I became the primary caregiver for my godson at a young age as he struggled with serious mental health challenges.

Appointments. School issues. Emotional support. Advocacy. Paperwork.
Everything fell on me.

I loved him like my own child — but the system didn’t recognize me that way.

Because I wasn’t his biological parent, getting help was harder.
Resources were limited.
Support was confusing.
And working full-time while caring for him became nearly impossible.

I realized something quickly:

There are so many families like mine…
showing up every day…
doing the right thing…
but getting little to no help.

So instead of waiting for someone else to fix it…

I built something.

Why We Exist

The Chosen Family Foundation was created to support caregivers and chosen families who fall through the cracks.

We help families:
• Secure housing
• Access benefits and documentation
• Navigate Social Security and support services
• Find resources for mental health and disability care
• Get real, practical help when life feels overwhelming

Because stepping up to care for someone shouldn’t mean struggling alone.

Our Mission

To empower chosen families with the tools, resources, and support they need to stay strong, stable, and together.
